On May 13th, Amazon Mexico announced that the second Amazon Conecta event has officially come to an end. It is known that this event is the largest training and social gathering for entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized enterprises, and Amazon Mexico sellers, with 1,600 on-site and online participants.
During the event, Amazon Mexico Company released the latest data on small and medium-sized enterprises that affect the entrepreneurial environment in the country and sell their products in its stores. So far, Amazon Mexico Station has nearly 27,000 sellers, an increase of 52% compared to the previous year, and offers over 5 million products in its stores. Globally, 60% of Amazon's sales come from sellers, and the majority of them are small and medium-sized enterprises.
Furthermore, although a large portion of Amazon sellers in Mexico are located in Mexico City, Jalisco, and Nuevo León, the number of sellers outside these three major cities has increased significantly this year. The states of Quintana Roo, Nayarit, Oaxaca, Sinaloa, and Hidalgo had the fastest growth in the number of store sellers last year, with an average increase of 130%. Eight out of every ten orders are sent to states different from the seller's origin, clearly indicating that Amazon not only brings sales opportunities to numerous companies in their origin states but also has the potential to do so nationwide.
More than 3,000 Mexican companies that operate in the United States or on Amazon have been selling products in other countries/regions. Their sales have increased by more than 20% compared to the previous year, indicating that Amazon is connecting and assisting more companies in accessing new regions, new customers, and new businesses.
